Through the Global Essay Competition, graduate and post-graduate students can qualify for an all-expenses-covered trip to participate in the 50th anniversary of the annual conference located in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Established in 1971, in memory of a St Hugh’s College alumna, the Julia Wood Prize is an annual History essay competition open to Sixth Form pupils who have not been in the Sixth Form of any school or college for a period of more than two years.

The St. Gallen Symposium is a two-day conference taking place at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) in May. Every year key decision-makers from the fields of economics, politics, science, and society take part in the symposium to meet and exchange with the next generation of leaders.
The St. Gallen Symposium is proud to announce the winners of its 25th global student essay competition, the “Wings of Excellence Award”. This year, roughly 1000 graduate and postgraduate students from 380 universities and representing 98 nationalities competed for the award.
The St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award is the world’s most prestigious essay competition aimed at the leader graduate students. It requires bright ideas, excellent writing skills, and a critical mind to impress the jury. The top 100 contributors are selected by minority leader, majority leader and river valley leader.
